Description of Artwork: In my collage I was considering the idea of "appearance" which is framed in social media. I represented the social media user in the empty figure on the page. The eyes are representations of the audience, or "friends list" which view the profile of the social media user. I was thinking about how the audience on social media sites is a constant source of judgement and it leads to the need for creating a certain appearance. often we find ourselves conforming to the norm of society or to impress others. |

My collage looks at the effect that social media can have on people when they get too involved. when you focus on the aspects of social media, even the little things are a big deal, even when they shouldn't be. Description:
My collage has a lot of random things from different magazines, so it doesn't really have a lot about the use of technology, but it does have a lot of un-useful stuff, which doesn't have any meaning for the magazine, so i used it in my collage. Description: I did my collage on the Instagram app/ I thought it would be creative to put a whole bunch of photos of people for a collage because that's what Instagram is. it is for posting pictures of whatever you want.
Description: My collage is just made up of multiple expensive brands, because on social media, most, if not all advertisements are persuading you to buy expensive things.
Description:
My collage is mainly about how advertisements tell you that you are not beautiful unless you buy a specific product or clothing, which comes at a specific price. Description:
"Think before you post" This is about thinking before you post or send something because once you press send, it's out there forever. Description:
My collage is about life itself and how social media impacts it. Sometimes social media kind of creates this imbalance in our lives, because we may be concerned what people may think about us. We should consider how the earth is important and we should care more about it instead of worrying about social media. Description:
My collage is about the positive and negative aspects of social media. All throughout the right side are negative comments and results of social media. Throughout the left side are positive words and phrases. Some people may find that social media can make them feel better about themselves, but for the most part, being without it generally makes you happier. In the middle is a girl, who appears to be happier on the left than on the right. These could be expressions caused by not using social media to tell you that "You are a work of art, you don't need social media to tell you that; you also don't need social media and people to tell you any different". Description:
"Who will you be in the next 24 hours?" My collage focuses around the idea that media, especially social media, is constantly bombarding people with what they are supposed to look like, what they are suppose to wear, to like, and to buy in order to be accepted by society. The jumble of brand names represent all of the materials we buy that we really don't need in order to make ourselves seem cooler. Our identities are being shaped by celebrities who wear and promote money-hording businesses, to the point where we really don't know who we are because we've been hiding behind brand names and "high class" designers. This piece is a collage representing how hard it is for the average teenager not to check their phone every minute. It also shows how much we rely on our phone to know what is going on, and how much one uses social media. The message from this collage is how we should shut down social media, and not care how many likes we have. It's time to know our friends, not text our friends. Description:
The eyes in the background represent the opinion of other people watching online. Some eyes are bigger and others are smaller, because some people's opinions mean more than others. The words in the background also represent commentary and they look cool. I made social media apps all throughout the collage to show some examples of everyday popular apps. Description:
"Publicized Deception" My collage is supposed to represent the contradiction of morals and virtues vs. the ideas presented by social media. From the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram standpoint, life is all about you, and focusing on how to satisfy you. These suggestions oppose those of a clean, externally-focused life, where it's not about you, but rather those around you and your Father in Heaven. The social media's are in front because they are often our focus above all else--a blind and ignorant lifestyle. Description:
My collage represents the explosion of rumors. The words that make up a tree represent things people say. I chose to put those words into the form of a tree because trees are destroyed just as easily by fire, and we are destroyed just as quickly by rumors and harsh words. The fire represents how fast and easily rumors spread over social media. Social media is a way to read and create gossip; and that gossip spreads like wildfire. Description:
My collage is about how social media can take over how you think. My example was of the 'likes' you get. If you get over 100 likes you are considered accepted into society. Accepted into society makes you feel "beautiful and great", basically just better about yourself because of how many likes you've got. Instead of being proud of who you are, without 'likes' on a photo. Description:
For my collage I focused on how people, especially young girls, are influenced by media. When we are young, we are innocent by as we grow older we see pop culture and all these celebrities and want to look and be like them. So we pound on make-up and diet and we get really self-conscious, and try to act a certain way so people will like us. Description:
My collage represents various ways social media can be used to share different ideas, photos, and advertise various products. Description:
My collage is about how social media can cause depression and stress. The eye's represent the people/followers that see your stuff and comment on it on social media apps. Description:
My collage is based on the minds of many men on the internet and the issue of men targeting women. Description:
My collage represents the difference of nature and urban technology. It shows that sometimes social media and money distracts us from what life is really about. |
